Sonics and Sojourns is a fall festival of learning (September 18 – 26, 2009) that features interactive music, outdoor experiences, innovative workshops, science in the park, art & cultural experiences, regional cuisine, and demonstrations of environmental leadership from businesses, ordinary citizens and well-known Canadians. Located in Onanole, Manitoba just outside Riding Mountain National Park, this festival is for anyone wishing to enjoy fall and participate in highly innovative experiences not offered anywhere else in western Canada.
What makes this festival special is that it is located within an international biosphere reserve, involves many communities, and takes place over 9-days. It creates an opportunity for cottagers, local residents, students returning to school and park visitors to celebrate. Sonics & Sojourns is anchored in the following five (5) core values:
- Community empowerment to engage students and community members.
- Environmental leadership through mentorship of sustainable energy and conservation
- Experiential learning (learning by doing) and experiential tourism
- Showcase our hidden community talents and student achievements
- Meeting amazing Canadians
